Cement treatment for vertebral fractures

Osteoporosis begins to appear in the spine before the peripheral bones, and when vertebral fractures occur, they are called lumbar fractures resulting from osteoporosis, and they can occur without the patient being exposed to any collision, and it may occur while he is asleep in his bed.

In the case of injury, the patient feels severe pain in the vertebra that has been fractured, and the dorsal and lumbar vertebrae are often in the central region of the spine, and it may occur in the lumbar region below the spine.

A modern method for treating these cases has become by using a technique based on injecting these vertebrae with medical cement of a special kind into the body of the affected vertebra through the spine

This treatment is performed in an operating room, and the patient takes a general anesthetic, in which television imaging is used to locate the fractured vertebra, and the injection process takes place through the spinal stent, where the vertebral body is injected with medical cement through a special needle, where a pump pushes the cement inside that needle up to The body of the vertebra.

How to use the operation in treating vertebral fractures

Vertebral fractures occur when the vertebra cannot fully bear the load on it and begins to collapse due to the tiny cracks and cracks that form in the bone. Usually the front of the vertebrae begins to collapse and begins to take on the shape of a wedge. The collapsed portion of a paragraph must lose at least 15% of its height for this to be considered a fracture of the paragraph.
