Treatment of roughness and pain of the knee

The knee is one of the most important joints in the body, as the joint bears, the human body when sitting or walking, which is the reason for its frequent exposure to osteoarthritis or pain.

Factors Affecting the Knee:

-         Sitting wrongly in different positions.

-         Overweight.

-         People who suffer from bow legs.

Some people may think that osteoarthritis is only treated surgically, but this is very untrue.

Dr. Andrew identifies the stages of knee osteoarthritis: types and treatment methods:

Treatment can be done without surgical intervention, and that is determined according to the stages and causes. Types of knee joint osteoarthritis are divided into:

Initial Osteoarthritis:

Afflicts the knee directly without checking for any pathological causes. For normal cases, it is treated with ointments and creams containing sticky substances that penetrate the skin to reach the synovial fluid and prevent poor knee condition, taking into account that it is one of the uncommon cases. However, resorting to surgery is the solution in advanced cases of Osteoarthritis.

Secondary Osteoarthritis:

Its causes are multiple factors:

Mechanical factors:

They change the mechanics of the knee joint and result in synovial fluid cracking and osteoarthritis because of:

-         Excess weight: because it increases the load on the surface of the knee cartilage, leading to cracking and thus osteoarthritis, and of course, the treatment of this case is to lose weight to remove the extra loads.

-         Deformed joint: It occurs most often in people with bow legs or in cases of conjoined thighs, where either of them leads to the deviation of the knee joint from its straightness, causing a crack in the cartilage and its surface, and treatment, in this case, is surgical to work to restore the leg to its straightness.

-         Unhealthy habits: such as sitting in a squatting or cross-legged position, also standing for long periods, which causes stress on the cartilage surface and then osteoarthritis.

-         Injuries: are, in most cases, playground injuries such as cruciate ligament or, God forbid, broken joints.

Chemical Factors:

Such as, electrolytes levels are too high in the synovial fluid and cause a change in the chemistry of the blood, and because the joint face is similar to the smooth surface and the electrolytes are similar to the glass, so this surface is affected, and the causes of this are:

1.     Excess uric acid on the knee.

2.     Increase in calcium oxalate electrolytes.

3.     Increase in phosphorous electrolytes in the blood.

Medicines are the treatment, in this case, to help them get rid of the excess electrolytes and restore the blood chemistry to its normal state.

Service FAQ

Knee osteoarthritis consists of four stages: First Stage: It depends on preventive treatment, that is, simply avoiding the investigated cause of osteoarthritis, whether excess weight, bad habits, conjoined thighs or bow legs, as well as injuries or changed blood chemistry. Second Stage: It relies on drugs that strengthen cartilage and analgesics. Third Stage: In it, the treatment is topical by injection with an albuminous substance that softens the joint. Fourth Stage: It is the last stage, in which the treatment is done by changing the joint.
